Responsibilities for tenants
Posted on 1st August 2022
As a tenant, you have certain responsibilities that you must adhere to in order to maintain a good relationship with your landlord and keep the property in good condition.
The main responsibilities are paying your rent on time, taking care of the property and its surroundings, and adhering to the terms of your tenancy agreement.
If there are any maintenance issues such as changing light bulbs or checking smoke alarms, it is the tenant's responsibility but if there are major repairs or maintenance the tenants must report this to the landlord or letting agent.
Additionally, if tenants want to make amendments or improvements to the property, they must first get permission from the landlord. If you are having a lodger for a while, you must also inform the landlord or letting agent.
By following these simple guidelines, you can ensure that your tenancy runs smoothly and that you maintain a good relationship with your landlord.
